First Nash Bridges ("Zodiac," 11-1-1996), then Millennium ("The Mikado," 2-6-1998), now Criminal Minds. Granted, it's a fictional TV show, but if they're going to attempt any sort of accuracy, this serial killer, if apprehended, will have to be in his mid to late 60's at the very least for them to really wonder if he's Z...

I just hope they don't butcher the Facts too much.
You KNOW they will, at the very least, take
CREATIVE LISCENCE :?

I've still never seen that episode of Millennium and the episode of Nash Bridges is such a distant memory I don't accurately remember any of it...
When this one gets an official air date someone should post it here for those of us who don't really watch a ton of television.

***EDIT***
This is post 666 for me. I don't know how I feel about that...

I expect that this new show will be like most others-- meaning, little-to-no resemblance to the facts of the Zodiac case. I know that people like their entertainment, but I think it says something about us, as a society, that we have little-to-no interest in facts. I'm hoping that I'm wrong and that the Criminal Minds episode will be a pleasant surprise, but I'm not holding my breath...

They should just stick with fake serial killers and not make this case mired with more garbage myths.

I really hope you're wrong. I've just watched the Millennium Mikado episode. I actually found it's use of the subject matter quite offensive. They had taken aspects of the case and wrapped them up in a premise for their own serial killer called avatar. It had the symbol or rather a version of it, the hood, the ciphers and even a reference to a killing of a cab driver albeit in the 80's, references to Geary, it was set in San Francisco and of course the Mikado.

I mean doesn't this violate everything about the "any similarities to persons living or dead" clause?

I guess we're all more sensitive to these things given that we look at the case and can't fail to take into account how it affected real lives whereas entertainment doesn't apparently have that encumberment.

It's at times like this I'm reminded of a brilliant line by the band 'Love' (aptly fronted by Arthur lee) "The news of today will be the movies of tomorrow"

EDIT: added quote
"I don’t know Chief, he’s very smart or very dumb."

I thought the Millennium episode was pretty damned cool (check your PM box, Johnny).

Criminal Minds is overrated dreck, but I admit that it remains one of my guiltiest pleasures. And as far as I'm concerned, they already had their version of Zodiac (the Reaper).
