Dan Cooper
I'm sure its been brought up before, but the case of Dan Cooper. Zodiac's last communica, before '74, was in March '71. D.B. jumped November '71. D.B. took all his handwritten notes when he jumped.

Something shaking, although we've not quite been told what.
My favourite quote is:
"The information we have hasn't produced inconsistent information, so in that regard it's still viable, credible and active," said Gutt, a special agent in the FBI's Seattle office.
Thanks, Mr Gutt.

Re: Dan Cooper
The FBI must know something the public doesn't because from what I've read all evidence seems to indicate Cooper is rotting at the bottom of the Columbia river.

Re: Dan Cooper
I think there must be something to this. Let me explain. I live close to where Dan Cooper was projected to have landed that night. This entire area is remote and has been scoured over the years, starting with the FBI and continuing onward. We even celebrate "DB Cooper Days" annually, just up the road from where I live, at a really funky, cute bar.
A few years ago, kids dug up an old parachute on their land and it started a huge investigation all over again. Our quiet area was overrun with media, gawkers, the usual. It was quickly proven to be an old WWII parachute that was buried for whatever reason. Nothing to do with Cooper.
My point is this. If it was just another media freak-out, we would be overrun up here and I would have had gawkers and media wanting to park on my land. It's been stone quiet and the tip came out of the Seattle Office, which is appropriate.
This is probably a good lead, unlike the nearly annual doo-doo that happens up in these parts. Should be interesting.

Re: Dan Cooper
Some of the rotted money was found a decade later (otherwise, none of the $200,000 has ever turned up in circulation), and I remember an Unsolved Mysteries episode where, in the 1980's IIRC, a hunter found a sign that had been ripped from the rear hatch by the wind when Cooper jumped. Other than that, no other evidence has turned up that I'm aware of (and it's not like I scour the news for anything on the case either, lol), so this should prove interesting one way or the other...

Me either. But, up here, it's either Bigfoot or Cooper. You can't live with 'em and you can't live without 'em and still live in the wilds up here. Between them, they keep most of the bars afloat (all two of them).

It appears they are trying to check DNA and fingerprints from a guy who died about ten years ago to see if it's a match.

Re: Dan Cooper
I believe they got DNA off Cooper's famous black tie, so they aren't just checking fingerprints as mentioned earlier. I just hope this guy wasn't from Olympia Washington.
Re: Dan Cooper
Interesting, I've read about this guy before, pretty ballsy (or stupid?) to even attempt something like this ha.
Anyone have a rough idea what the 200k US would be worth in today's money?

According to Measuring Worth:
Is that what you're looking for?
Current data is only available till 2010. In 2010, the relative worth of $200,000.00 from 1971 is:
$1,080,000.00 using the Consumer Price Index
$867,000.00 using the GDP deflator
$1,030,000.00 using the unskilled wage
$1,240,000.00 using the Production Worker Compensation
$1,560,000.00 using the nominal GDP per capita
$2,600,000.00 using the relative share of GDP
Is that what you're looking for?
