"Proposed" 340 cipher solutions

Postby glurk » Wed Jul 27, 2011 4:36 am

Since I've never seen a list that puts together all of the "340 Solutions" I thought I'd start one. I know there are more than what I have found:

Robert Graysmith's solution:
http://www.zodiackiller.com/mba/zc/26.html

Corey Starliper's solution:
http://tewksbury.patch.com/articles/tew ... iac-killer

John Cecil's solution:
http://zodiackillersolved.blogspot.com/ ... ution.html

Hal Kravcik's solution:
http://www.340cipher.com/340sol2.php

Chris Farmer / OPORD's solution:
http://www.opordanalytical.com/articles1/zodiac-340.htm

rand's solution:
http://zodiackiller.21.forumer.com/a/po ... 30&start=0

I know I have seen other "solutions" but this is all I could find at the moment. Seen any others? Please add!

Did you get Wilks? http://unazod.com/Wilks_32.htm

And there's Robert. P Ackerman (I don't know whether to laugh or cry) http://zodiacevidence.co.uk/default.aspx?g=posts&t=29&find=unread

eh. that's all I got.

I thought Harriette Sucher (catseye) had a "solution", but I can't find it.

The one thing ALL of these solutions have in common (besides being incorrect) is that then tend to unravel after the first 5 or so lines as the substitution patterns used in the first part are no longer sustainable.

I'd have to give Graysmith and John Cecil the top honors for effort but kudos to anyone who presents their ideas without claiming it as a real solution. The worst? Mr. Farmer for not only producing the most laughable solution but being insistent that he is right.
