He knew about kids watching it
Cab halts and the interior light goes on. He shoots the driver & starts collecting items. He exits the cab, scanning the streets for witnesses he sees the children. Not knowing how much they really saw and understood he tries to create an impression that all is good by staying calm, not running away. He opens the drivers door and tries to put the victim in upright position. He walks away, and every now and then he is turning around to see if someone follows. Maybe at one moment he sees one kid standing at the end of the street behind him. He escapes.
Back home he decides to express his feelings about those kids in a letter and does so.

The crime was reported in the Chronicle the next morning, Sunday, including the young witnesses, and Z's letter was mailed on Monday, so he knew about the them one way or another.
I think if he saw the kids they would have seen him doing a double take. I have seen no reports to that effect.

Are you thinking that his comments about schoolchildren are in reference to the witnesses? I've heard that idea before, don't really know what to say about it.
I'm a little confused about some of your threads lately Willard. Do you have a theory, or are you just coming up with scenarios to have a discussion? It's not a judgement and OK either way, I was just wondering.

To me it seems very logical that those comments on schoolchildren are in direct link with the witnesses. It makes sense.
No need to be confused, as i am just killing time and keeping the site alive.
Oh and when i get a good feedback, it really changes my mind sometimes.

Yes, the schoolchildren threat coming directly after the Stine crime witness reports has been theorized many times, and it certainly makes sense. Not sure what can be gleaned from it, possibly that since it was reactionary it was just that, a threat, and not a serious intention, as Z himself would later admit. It did, however, manifest into the bus bomb idea, perhaps also an empty threat.

Most possibly it started as a joke, but when when he saw all the attention and hype about it he used this (bus bomb) to produce even more attention.

"school children/nice targets" vis a vis Stine witnesses, is possible, but no really way to confirm it, that's why I'm iffy about it. However, bus threat leading to bomb threat- I think you are on to something there.
This is another instance where I'd like to know if Z is responding to the media. I'm still looking for newspaper articles and trying to put something together there. If anyone has those, especially ones from 69 and the Chron, I'm really interested.

Not much that you can really confirm here anyway. The most likely scenario however is that he responded in that letter to the witnesses.
