Re: 340 cipher dimensions
Are you sure that it says "FIFTH AVENUE"? I'm having some serious doubts and as more as I look at it the less it looks like it...
Re: 340 cipher dimensions
I am absolutely, positively 100% completely certain and convinced beyond any possible doubt that it is incontestable that the watermark is "Fifth Avenue"
Did I mention that I am positive of it? What do you see, Rod?

On the fence again eh Glurk?
I can see three lots btw. Or did I already say that?
I suppose - were we still in any doubt of the dimensions and I am not - we could get some paper of the same type and measure the distance between watermarks. From somewhere. Maybe. (Just a thought).

That's a great question!
I was initially convinced that it was "FIFTH AVENUE", but then I realised that I never saw the "FIFTH" only the "AVENUE"...
And then I realises that I never saw the "AVENUE" only "AVEN" at most... Even if I force the "AVENUE" onto it, It seems to me that there is an extra letter between the U and the E... and that U looks more and more to a G...
AVENGUE?
LOL

Rod-
This is for you, and any others who cannot seem to see the "FIFTH AVENUE" watermark. You SHALL SEE IT NOW!! LOL.
It took longer than I care to admit to create this animation!

Re: 340 cipher dimensions
Has anyone thought about trying to solve the cipher by separating the symbols based on these fold lines?
If Zodiac was careful enough to not go through symbols when folding, maybe there was a reason for this, such as the above.

Re: 340 cipher dimensions
Hi Smithy...The only obvious "Avenue" reference to me was SFA - who has sold their own writing paper and stationery for many years, until I learned about the other writing paper sold at Woolworth's...
...sorry...I was just "thinking out loud", like I sometimes do...
