Mexican Woman Has Live Grenade Lodged in Her Face
Mexican Woman Has Live Grenade Lodged in Her Face.
This is an amazing story, it reminds me of one I'd read about many a long year ago concerning a similar occurrence where a guy was hit by a mortar that lodged in his shoulders and didn't go off. And the doctors dropped it once or twice after removing it, and it didn't go off! It was later detonated without incident.
On August 6, 2011 Mexico’s “Miracle Woman”, as she’s come to be known, was selling seafood on the street when all of a sudden she heard an explosion. As she turned around to see what had happened, the woman was hit in the face by an object, and the powerful impact caused her to fall on the sidewalk. She felt a burning sensation in her face and when she touched the point of impact with her hand there was a lot of blood. Karla passed out after that, but luckily for her an anonymous passerby took her in his car and drove her to the nearest hospital. There she woke up and when the doctors asked her about the wound Flores told them she thought a stone hit her. But their investigations would reveal it was something a lot deadlier than a stone.

The victims (known and suspected) and the
killer: these crimes will not be forgotten.

That is amazing. True you think? It seems a bit of a stretch. Ouch!
Mind you, during the war (the Second World War) there was bomb dropped on a house in Kentish town which didn't go off and the lady who owned the house, thinking it was just the casing that was left, adopted it as her "lucky charm", polished up the brass and used it as a doorstop for another 42 years. It wasn't stuck in her face though, of course.
Eventually someone recognised what it was, (a nephew?), and that it was still "live" and called for the bomb squad to take it away. I think they gave it her back after they'd "made it safe".
Truth is stranger than fiction, yes siree.
